Ground Beef

Whip up a shepherd’s pie for a one-dish wonder, based on ground beef browned to perfection with chopped white onions. Add whatever vegetables the family prefers -- perhaps a medley of green beans, carrots, Brussels sprouts, peas, corn or zucchini -- and toss the meat and vegetables together lightly. Mix up a fast gravy based on a mix to save time. Pour the ingredients into a casserole dish, top with creamy mashed potatoes and bake until heated through. Or make a savory ground beef stuffing by mixing breadcrumbs, an egg and herbs such as basil and parsley, then stuff half peppers before baking them.

Roasts

A savory pot roast can be deceptively easy. Make a boneless sirloin tip or beef chuck roast the star of this show. Place the roast into a slow-cooker and sprinkle dry soup or salad dressing mix over the roast. Top the roast with a splash of Worcestershire sauce and add whatever vegetables the children like, such as new potatoes, baby carrots and celery chunks. Let this simple dinner roast in the slow-cooker for four to six hours on low, and you'll have it on the table before anyone says, "I'm hungry."

Stew

Satisfy the troops with a hearty beef stew, based on cubed beef stew meat to streamline your preparation process. Add ingredients such as chopped onions, carrots, diced potatoes and chopped celery. Add tarragon and basil for a richer flavor. A package of dry onion soup mix pulls the stew flavors together effectively. Simmer the stew on the stovetop for an hour or so, then serve with crunch bread and a healthy green salad with fat-free dressings.

Grilling

Head outside when the weather warms to grill your beef to perfection. Burgers are an easy choice, but consider other options as well. Marinate New York steaks or flank steaks with tasty ingredients, such as Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, lemon juice or Dijon mustard, to infuse big flavor. After marinating for about an hour, grill the steaks on high for five to seven minutes on each side. When you pull them from the grill, they’ll be lightly charred and ready to eat.
