Pork chops are low in fat, high in protein and quick to prepare if cooked the right way. Side dishes are also simple, because this mild white meat blends well with a variety of flavors. Choose a vegetable, a fruit and a salad, and whip up an entire dinner while the pork chops are cooking.

Pork Chops

Choose cuts that will cook fast to make a quick pork chop dinner. Thin or regular cuts, as well as butterfly cuts, are quick-cooking choices. Thick cuts take much longer to cook, regardless of the cooking method, and boneless chops also cook more quickly than those with the bone. Grilling, broiling, frying and baking are fast and easy ways to cook pork chops. Top the pork chops with a glaze to keep in the juices, or sear each side on a grill before seasoning to keep them tender and flavorful during quick cooking.

Fruit

Pork chops and fruit go hand in hand, with the sweet fruit balancing out the flavor of the meat. Applesauce or baked apples complement the chops, as do pineapple, mango, pear and mandarin oranges. Mix fruit with strawberry sauce or whipping cream for a sweet fruit salad side dish. Buy presliced fruit to make the meal even quicker to prepare.

Vegetables

Steamed peas, green beans, broccoli or carrots are all quick side dishes to serve with pork chops. Sauteed Brussels sprouts, asparagus with butter, squash, zucchini and black-eyed peas are other variations for a quick pork chop menu. Grilled corn on the cob or creamed corn are delicious choices for rounding out a meal, and beans, such as baked or ranch-style beans, have long been a favorite pairing for pork.

Salad

Chickpea salad complements the flavor of pork chops nicely. Mixed vegetables with a creamy ranch dressing, Caesar salad and spinach salad with bleu cheese are also quick to prepare. Tomatoes with mint, bean, cucumber and tomato salads also pair well with pork chops. Garden salad tossed with a variety of vegetables, such as carrots, celery and cucumber, is a healthy and easy starter for any pork chop dinner.
